Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) completed the final placement process of the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) 2017 batch within three days with highest domestic salary package of Rs 70 Lakh per annum.
“A total of 474 lucrative offers from domestic and international companies were made to students in the campus placement. The highest domestic package was Rs 70 lakh per annum, whereas the highest international package amounted to 90,000 Euros (Rs 63 lakh approx) per annum,” the IIMC said in a statement.
The finance sector churned out the maximum number of offers with top recruiters like Avendus, Edelweiss, Goldman Sachs, Agra Investment, BAML, Citibank and HSBC visiting the campus, as all students of the batch got placements within a record three days in the second week of February. Twenty-nine per cent of the offers came from the finance sector, while consulting emerged as the second highest recruiter by making 22 per cent of the total offers.
Consulting sector emerged as the second highest recruiter contributing to 22% of the total offers made. Top recruiters in this sector were Accenture, AT Kearney, Bain, BCG, McKinsey.
General management firms also recruited in big numbers this year and 15 percent offers were made in this sector by top firms like ABG, CK Birla, TAS etc. Sales and marketing roles contributed to 12 percent of the total offers, predominantly made by firms like HUL, ITC, P&G, Reckitt Benckiser etc.

Apart from these, e-commerce and IT roles also contributed to 14 percent of the total offers and companies like Amazon, Wipro etc. hired in large numbers.
Last year for IIM Calcutta achieved 100 percent final placements for the Class of 2014-16 in just 2.5 days. For the largest batch of 439 students amongst the older IIMs, a whopping total of almost 500 offers were made during the placement process of Class 2014-16, including 21 international offers. Consulting firms dominance in the campus with over 20% of the total offers while Sales & Marketing contributed 19% of the offers. Last year, Over 20% of the offers were made by E-Commerce and Web-based startups like Amazon, Snapdeal, Flipkart, PayTM, Olacabs, Uber, RedBus etc. with Amazon being the top recruiter.
